Most SEOs optimise for Google. Almost none think about Brave Search.
That is a mistake that is becoming very expensive.
Claude AI uses Brave Search as its web retrieval layer. When Claude goes online to answer a question — about the best local service provider, the right software tool, the most trusted contractor — it queries Brave. Not Google. Brave. The pages Brave surfaces are the pages Claude reads. The pages Claude reads are the pages Claude cites.
If your pages are not indexed on Brave, Claude cannot see them. If they are indexed but score poorly on retrieval readiness, Claude reads them but does not cite them.
This free skill runs a full 6-phase Brave indexation audit directly inside Claude.
What the skill does:
Phase 1 — Brave Indexation Check. Generates 10 test queries for Brave Search, runs Brave-specific technical pre-checks (including the most common mistake: most SEOs think robots.txt blocks indexing on Brave — it does not), and produces a full indexation status table per URL.
Phase 2 — Submit / Re-fetch List. Builds a prioritised URL queue for Brave Webmaster Tools, ordered by citation impact and technical readiness. Includes what NOT to submit and why.
Phase 3 — Brave Summarizer Readiness Audit. Scores every priority page on 12 signals specific to Brave's AI Summarizer pipeline — the same pipeline that feeds Claude's citations. Pages below 50/100 are filtered before citation regardless of rank position.
Phase 4 — Dead Site Opportunity Finder. Identifies sites that are dead on Google but still alive and ranking on Brave. These are your highest-value outreach targets for brand mentions and Brave-indexed citations that feed directly into Claude's retrieval layer.
Phase 5 — Brand Mention Gap Analysis. Maps where your brand is absent across target queries on Brave — listicle gaps, comparison gaps, depth gaps.
Phase 6 — 30-Day Visibility Checklist. Week-by-week action plan covering technical fixes, content structure, FAQ additions, outreach starts, and re-testing protocol.
Who this is for:
Local SEO consultants, agencies, and freelancers who want to get their clients' pages discovered and cited by Claude, Brave Summarizer, and Perplexity — not just ranked on Google.
What this skill does not do:
The free skill diagnoses the problem. It does not generate the fix. For ready-to-paste page rewrites, schema JSON-LD per page type, FAQ blocks optimised for Brave's QA extraction model, personalised outreach scripts, comparison page copy, and a 90-day execution calendar see the Pro version inside the GMB Crush Skool community.

How to Upload and Use the Brave AI Indexing Skill Inside Claude
Step 1 — Download the skill file Download the brave-ai-indexing-skill.skill file. Save it to your Desktop or Downloads folder. Do not rename it or change the extension.
Step 2 — Create a Project on Claude Go to claude.ai. Click "Projects" in the left sidebar, then "Create Project". Name it "Brave AI Indexing" or anything that helps you identify it.
Step 3 — Upload the skill to Project Knowledge Inside the project, click "Project knowledge" and upload the .skill file. If the upload option does not appear, open the SKILL.md file in a text editor, copy all the content, and paste it into the "Custom instructions" field of the project instead.
Step 4 — Set custom instructions Add this to the project's custom instructions to prime Claude for Brave analysis:
"You are a Brave Search and AI retrieval specialist. When given a website URL, run the full Brave AI Indexing Skill audit from the uploaded skill file. Use web search to verify real Brave indexation status. Never invent data, rankings, or competitor information."
Step 5 — Enable web search Web search must be enabled for this skill to work correctly. The skill needs live Brave indexation data, competitor rankings, and Dead-on-Google / Alive-on-Brave target verification. In Claude settings, confirm web search is active before running any audit.
Step 6 — Start every audit inside the project Always open a new conversation from inside the project — not from the main Claude interface. The skill file is only accessible when you are working within the project.
Step 7 — Run your first audit Paste this prompt with your client's data:
"Run the full Brave AI Indexing Skill audit for [DOMAIN]. Brand: [BRAND]. Services: [LIST]. Competitors: [URL1], [URL2]. Target keywords: [LIST]. City/market: [CITY, STATE]. Include all 6 phases and the 30-day checklist."
Tips to get the most out of the skill
Always provide competitors. The Dead Site Opportunity Finder (Phase 4) needs competitor URLs to find Brave-alive outreach targets. Without them, the output will be generic.
Run Phase 3 on your worst pages first. Feed the URLs of pages you already know are underperforming. The 12-signal score will tell you exactly why they are not being cited.
Use Phase 1 before any client sales call. A 5-minute Brave indexation check ("site:clientdomain.com" on search.brave.com) combined with a quick Phase 3 score is enough to show a prospect they are invisible to Claude — before you've charged a penny.
Re-run the audit monthly. Brave re-crawls frequently. Pages you submit this week may appear indexed — and scoreable — within 7 to 14 days.
Pair with the Pro version for execution. The free skill tells you what is broken. The Pro version inside the GMB Crush Skool community generates the fix: rewrites, schema, FAQ blocks, outreach scripts, and a 90-day calendar. The diagnostic without the execution is only half the job.
